Welcome to Smart Device Academy, the blog and podcast show that brings you IOT News and insight. The Idea of Smart Device academy was born when, as a software engineer, I was struggling to understand the full value of IoT and smart technology. I began speaking to other technical and non technical people and found that I was not alone in feeling like this. When I began speaking to more industry insiders, I began to see the benefits and challenges. Not only that, but I began to see how IoT enabled devices were helping to shape the lives of many people. I guess you could say my “A-Ha” moment came when I realised that if the information I was consuming was invaluable to me, imagine how many people would gain from hearing relevant IoT news. In particular, hearing companies discuss their challenges, successes, IoT use cases and also sharing their vision for the internet of things.

That is why we have recorded some very insightful inteviews with companies involved in IoT. This ranges from Artificial intelligence companies to wireless component manufacturer. Each company comes with their own IoT vision and experience. We hope that after hearing the stories and insight, IoT will become clearer in your mind. We will also be sharing IoT news and orginal content. This will help to add some context to some of the Smart Technology related news that may be circulating around the Internet.

Many analysts are predicting that there will be 50 Billion connected devices by 2020. This is incredibily difficult to image and visualise. However, one thing is for sure, if we are to successfully reach this number then we all need to understand the internet of things, it’s value and how it will affect us all.
